Separate interaction search from RAG

The iService explainer separates Interaction and Contact Search from Retrieval-Augmented Generation. It marks the boundary between record lookup and model grounding. The resource traces search, embeddings, retrieval, selected context, generated answers, agent review, and customer escalation.

Two territories divided by a raised ridge: a searched grid of blank records on one side, blank passage fragments drawn into one blank response on the other

Interaction search and RAG stages

iService uses distinct stages for record lookup, retrieval, selected context, and generated answers.

The iService explainer separates finding interaction records from generating grounded answers. It shows the stages that connect a source record to an answer. The resource identifies the search, retrieval, context, and generation boundaries.

From indexing to grounded answers

Eligible sources move through embeddings, detailed search, semantic retrieval, context selection, and grounded response generation.

The explainer starts when iService indexes eligible sources as embeddings. It moves through detailed search and semantic retrieval, then selects relevant context for a grounded response. Detailed search finds records. Semantic retrieval finds relevant material. The selected context grounds the generated answer and marks the boundary from record lookup to model grounding.

From source to answer and escalation

Eligible sources move through detailed search, semantic retrieval, context selection, grounded generation, and human escalation.

A service team starts with an eligible source and uses detailed search to find records. Semantic retrieval identifies relevant material, and iService selects context before generating a response. When the case goes to a person, skills-based routing sends it to a qualified agent through the escalation path.

Record lookup and model grounding

Interaction and Contact Search finds records, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation uses selected context to generate answers.

The iService explainer separates Interaction and Contact Search from Retrieval-Augmented Generation. It marks where record lookup ends and model grounding begins. Human escalation remains a separate stage from retrieval and generation.

Visible search, grounding, and escalation stages

The explainer identifies retrieval sources, selected context, generated responses, agent review, and customer escalation as separate stages.

The iService explainer shows configured retrieval sources, selected context, generated responses, and the points where agents review or customers escalate. Teams trace each stage from the search source to the customer response. The resource names the visible inputs and handoff points.
